Starting a new business from scratch is difficult! Putting in long hours developing or creating your idea takes time and a lot of effort. This is a heartwarming story about a dad who opened a donut shop but nobody came to his Grand Opening. That is until his son got involved.
Billy By is that son and he was heartbroken that his father’s newly opened store, Billy’s Donuts didn’t have any customers. But Billy’s love for his parents and social media gave his father a helping hand. After reading the story online, many people made their way to the store and proceeded to buy the shop out.
And apparently, the donuts are delicious!
English Expressions
“buy the shop out” – to buy everything that is available for sale until there is nothing left.
“starting a business from scratch” – when you start something from scratch, it means you start from the very beginning and build on that. For example, when you make a cake from scratch you would gather all the ingredients such as flour, egg, milk etc and make that cake yourself rather than buying a cake box and making it that way.
